She was one third the size of a typical Weimaraner puppy at birth, just 5.7 ounces. She was a scrawny little thing, a small whisper of a puppy and not much of a fighter in the beginning. I rubbed her vigorously. Pinched her tiny scruff. Made her scream. I needed to know what she was made of, if she had any gladiator down in there. Cause that’s what she was gonna need to survive. I tube fed her for the first 2 weeks, something I had always been afraid to try. I guess I was more afraid of having her slip quietly away. It worked. She conserved her energy and focused on growing... She soon learned to tunnel down and latch on to a nipple on the bottom, she was less easily knocked off by the bigger puppies that way. And the little Mouse grew and the little Mouse thrived and the little Mouse ROARED.

The little Mouse moved to a land called OH-HI-OH where she kept growing and roaring. The little Mouse grew up and became a show dog and a Champion one at that!

Pretzel is ALL business, that it until it is play time! Give him a job, and he gives it his all - with titles in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally, Trick Dog, and working on his hunting titles. He holds the record for lifetime owner-handled conformation points in the Weimaraner breed, and he has a few other records he is in the process of setting (shhh...can't tell you about those yet!). There is no end to what he is willing to do for the person he loves. He is steadfastly loyal, and has a wonderful sense of humor (and some very impressive basketball skills - seriously!).

\

He grew up around horses, and one of his best friends for life is a gelding that is almost the same age as him - they played tug-of-war and other games together. Growing up, he was a bundle of energy, and would run alongside the horses for miles. All of that exercise has given him incredible athleticism and strength, and muscle tone like very few Weimaraners have (his friends call him the Arnold of Weims). Pretzel prides himself in not being a "typical" dog - he never chews or bothers things in the house, he never barks at night, and he has the best manners when visiting other people's homes. However, he would like to point out that although he LOVES to travel (don't you DARE go to a dog show without him!), his idea of heaven is laying on the couch next to his person (possibly with a peanut butter bone to work on).
